Would
you like to help run the Railway?
We
need your help to assist the full time staff of the Railway. The work is varied
and interesting and you would be joining a band of volunteers who get a great
deal of enjoyment from a short time helping to run the railway.
Most jobs are available year round although those involved with the operation of trains naturally decrease during the winter months. Every volunteer is given training in the jobs that they wish to undertake. Jobs marked with an asterix
(*)
below are suitable for older or less agile volunteers. There are some restrictions placed on volunteers under the age of 16.
Volunteers are welcome to come for periods of less than a week - even
one day of your time can make a valuable contribution to the Railway. Volunteers who do come for longer periods are welcome to spend some of their time away from the railway.
Interested? In the first instance
please telephone Martin Cookman, General Manager, on 01229 717171 to
discuss your interests and availability.
Accommodation can be arranged in the Society Hostel, Heywood House in Ravenglass, from £1 per night or in the family cottage near Dalegarth station. There are also several other accommodation options in Ravenglass and along the line.
